9:13 PM — The Florida Highway Patrol has confirmed that four people are dead and another has been critically injured after a sedan slammed into a tree along Interstate 75 in Collier County.
The sedan was reportedly traveling south on I-75 at the 110 MM in the center lane at around 6:22 AM prior to the crash.
The driver, an 18-year-old Cape Coral man, was changing lanes when he lost control, traveled off the roadway, and crashed into a tree in the grassy shoulder.
The impact of the crash caused the sedan to split in two parts.
The driver and two passengers, two 19-year-old men from Cape Coral, were pronounced dead on scene.
A 21-year-old Cape Coral woman who was a passenger in the car sustained serious injuries, was transported to NCH North Hospital, and later pronounced dead.
A 16-year-old Cape Coral teen was also inside of the vehicle at the time of the crash. He remains in critical condition.
FHP continues to investigate this crash.

Collier County, FL — Three people have died and two others have been seriously injured after a crash at the 110 mile marker of I-75 SB in North Naples.
North Collier Fire and Collier County EMS crews responded to the incident at 6:26 AM Saturday morning.
Initial reports indicate a grey vehicle with heavy damage was found rolled over into the treeline on the west side of I-75.
Three people were pronounced dead at the scene.
Two additional occupants, an approximately 25 to 30 year old male and 24 to 25 year old female, sustained injuries meeting “Trauma Alert" criteria and were transported to NCH North Hospital.
Multiple lanes of I-75 were previously shut down but have since been reopened.
The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating.
