3:00 PM — The Florida Highway Patrol confirms a 47-year-old Naples woman has died after a semi-truck ran a red light and struck her SUV.

A semi-truck transporting fertilizer, driven by a 52-year-old man from Avon Park, was traveling west on Immokalee Road approaching Logan Boulevard.

An SUV driven by a 47-year-old Naples woman was traveling south on Logan Boulevard preparing to turn east onto Immokalee Road.

A green light was displayed for the SUV and the driver proceeded into the intersection to make the left turn onto Immokalee Road.

Witnesses say the semi-truck failed to stop at a steady red light and collided with the left side of the SUV.

As a result the SUV was pushed into another SUV stopped in the westbound lanes of Immokalee Road.

The 47-year-old woman was transported to a local hospital where she was later pronounced dead.

Two children in her vehicle also sustained serious injuries.

No other injuries were reported.

The crash remains under investigation.
