Six dogs dead, woman injured after house fire in Cape Coral

Lee County, FL — Several dogs are dead and a woman has been seriously injured after a kitchen fire broke out at 1509 SE 19th Lane in Cape Coral.

Cape Coral Fire and Lee County EMS crews responded to the incident at 10:49 AM Sunday morning.

Firefighters rescued an elderly woman and nine dogs from the home.

The woman was in "Traumatic Cardiac Arrest" for several minutes before being resuscitated by EMS crews.

CCPD confirms that six dogs died due to smoke inhalation and three others survived.

Firefighters could be seen doing chest compressions on several of the dogs that died.

The woman was transported with serious injuries to an area hospital.

CCPD confirms the fire is non-suspicious in nature.

The State Fire Marshal’s Office has been contacted and is investigating the fire.
