4:10 PM — The Florida Highway Patrol confirms a 17-year-old girl has died, and two others have been seriously injured in this incident.
Troopers say a sedan traveling east on Gladiolus Drive was approaching a red traffic signal, as an SUV traveling west on Gladiolus Drive was stopped in the left turn lane.
The traffic signal for the SUV turned green and the driver proceed to make a left turn south onto Maida Lane.
The sedan failed to stop for the red traffic signal, entered the intersection, and collided with the right side of the SUV.
A car parked at 7841 Gladiolus Drive was also damaged by debris from the crash.
The driver of the sedan, an 18-year-old male of Fort Myers sustained serious injuries. The passenger of the sedan, a 17-year-old female of Fort Myers was pronounced dead at the scene. Troopers say neither person in the sedan was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
The driver of the SUV, a 30-year-old male of Fort Myers sustained serious injuries. Troopers say he was wearing a seatbelt.
The drivers of both vehicles were transported to Gulf Coast Medical Center.
The crash remains under investigation.

Lee County, FL — One person has died and at least one other person has been seriously injured after a three vehicle crash at Gladiolus Drive and Maida Lane in Fort Myers.
South Trail Fire, Iona McGregor Fire and Lee County EMS crews responded to the incident at 6:48 AM Wednesday.
One person was pronounced dead at the scene.
Fire & EMS radio communications indicate that an 18-year-old male sustained serious injuries meeting "Trauma Alert" criteria and were transported to Gulf Coast Medical Center.
The 18-year-old was reportedly the passenger of the vehicle with the fatality.
All eastbound lanes of Gladiolus Dr are blocked at Summerlin Rd due to the crash.
The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating.
